Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques—also known as ‘tapping’—is an easy-to-learn self-empowerment tool that combines ancient acupressure and talking to optimize your emotional and physical health.

EFT is performed by you on your own body. The process has two main components:

1) Tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian endpoints on the face and chest, while at the same time

2) Voicing statements, words, and phrases relating to a specific emotional or physical problem.

(For a description of what meridians are, see below.)

Tapping in this way helps to reduce the debilitating negative emotional charge you feel toward the problem. By desensitizing your emotional reaction you calm the nervous system, which in turn helps you respond to emotional stress in healthy ways.

What makes tapping so powerful is its ability to help clear emotional blocks from your body’s energy system, thus restoring balance to both your mind and body.

Whether your issue involves a traumatic event, physical pain, a strongly held fear, or a charged negative emotion, using Emotional Freedom Techniques can help lessen or eliminate its power over you.

What you can expect during a session

All sessions are held via Skype.

I’ll begin by walking you through each of the meridian tapping points so you feel at ease moving from point to point. I’ll answer your questions and help you select the issue you’d like to address.

Then, we’ll begin tapping. Though you will be tapping on your own meridian points, I will be guiding you on what to say throughout the process. I’ll also be tapping alongside you, guiding and supporting you.

Feeling emotional during the process is common. If and when this happens, I’ll be there to support you with full acceptance and an empathetic ear. I will listen with an open heart and mind. When you work with me you are in a safe space, free to express anger, frustration, pain, or whatever emotion is surfacing. Whatever happens during your session is completely confidential.

The session will end with instructions for self-care to be completed at home on your own time. These are brief exercises meant to help further your healing in between our sessions together.

What are meridians?
Meridians are invisible channels or pathways along the body that carry energy, similar to the way that arteries carry blood.

Each organ and physiological system in your body is fed or affected by at least one meridian. When flowing properly, this meridian system promotes vitality, balance, and good health.

Most acupuncture and acupressure points lie on a meridian. EFT focuses on specific meridian endpoints on the upper body. By tapping on these acupressure points, you encourage energy to be released and flow along your body’s meridian pathways.
